The Adiong Memorial State College is humbly honored for the partnership with Ateneo de Davao through the office of 𝑨𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒐 𝒅𝒆 𝑫𝒂𝒗𝒂𝒐 𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒄𝒆 𝑪𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑳𝒐𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝑮𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 (𝑨𝑹𝑪𝑳𝑮). Selected Faculty, Administrative Staff, and Students leaders were trained and engaged on HALALang Bayan: Edukasyong Pampulitika ng BARMM. The activity was conducted at the Science Lecture Hall (SLH), AMSC Campus, 19th of February 2025.
HALALang Bayan is a key component of the Blue Vote Electoral Program of Ateneo de Davao University, designed to equip the people of BARMM with the necessary knowledge and tools to actively and rightfully participate in the electoral process. The name HALALang Bayan, a play on the words Halal (permissible and just in Islam) and Halalan (elections in Filipino), underscores the program’s commitment to ethical, transparent, and participatory governance aligned with Islamic principles and democratic values.
The primary objective of HALALang Bayan is to empower BARMM communities through localized, culturally sensitive, and impactful voter education initiatives. Recognizing that sustainable democratic participation begins with well-informed citizens, the program seeks to:
• Educate participants on their rights and responsibilities as voters, ensuring they understand the significance of their votes and the importance of understanding Islamic governance, principles, government structures and electoral system in shaping the future of BARMM.
• Equip local leaders, educators, and advocates with knowledge and facilitation skills to effectively cascade voter education within their communities.
• Engage the youth, women, and marginalized sectors in political discourse to foster inclusive and representative governance.
• Encourage ethical voting behavior that resists electoral manipulation, upholds integrity, and aligns with the principles of good governance.
Through trainings, seminars, workshops, interactive forums, and digital campaigns, HALALang Bayan aims to create a ripple effect—empowering key stakeholders who, in turn, will educate and mobilize their respective communities. By strengthening the electorate’s capacity to make informed decisions, the program contributes to the broader goal of enhancing electoral integrity, civic participation, and democratic resilience in BARMM.
The activity concluded at 4:00 o'clock in the afternoon. The implementing team hope that shared activities and learning have been helpful in addressing curiosity in the Bangsamoro government. The activity plays a vital role in democratic societies, allowing citizens to make informed decisions about their leaders and hold them accountable.
As AMSC move forward, we welcome every opportunities to take action and get involved. We share ideas, and to work together to make a difference.
